For over 25 years, Rio Raft & Resort has been the choice of families and friends to gather on the Guadalupe River. The Rio Raft & Resort is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country - just minutes from Gruene Hall, shopping in Gruene and New Braunfels as well as nearby malls and close to many great restaurants. John Guenzel and Bill Perkins started Rio Raft Co. in 1976 and acquired property at 4th Crossing on River Rd in 1977. The RV Park has full hook-ups and was added along with amenities thru the years. The resort has 25 river-view cottages which were added in stages. There are tent sites, a small cafe with food to go, and a variety of river sports. A swimming pool and pavilion were added in 2004. They have a Large Meeting Hall which overlooks the Guadalupe River in a scenic tree - framed setting. This is a great place for large family reunions, business meetings and rallies. John started the Moving Waters PowWow in 1995 and formed the non-profit Moving Waters Foundation which has hosted the very popular Moving Waters PowWow for the last ten years. Look for this annual event the 3rd weekend in October. An active supporter of our Chamber and fundraisers, the Rio Raft and Resort is also a member of the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce, and is the host site of the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce major fundraiser of the year - the annual BBQ Cook-off in April. Enjoy tubing, rafting, guided fishing trips, and camping all within minutes of Canyon Lake and the Scenic Hill Country at the Rio Raft & Resort.
